Proverbs 14:1
The wise woman builds her house,1 but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down. My entire life people have told me that I was hard-headed. The truth is I am stubborn. I am hard-headed. I like to think that I am independent. I like to make my own decisions, and YES I struggle with PRIDE. I don't like people thinking that they can control me in any way. So when I give others the authority over me, best believe that I may feel threatened by it. God has placed people in the authoritative position in our lives for a reason. We all need guidance and in return, we should always guide others. Up until recently, I have made many poor decisions. The most common decisions that get me into trouble are my emotional and financial decisions. I remember when I went out and got my first car from the dealership. I was so excited that I didn't think about the monthly payments or the insurance, I just bought a car (I know it was stupid). Anyways, I took it back. Though it was an embarrassing decision that I made, I knew that was what I had to do. Furthermore, I made more stupid decisions with my finances, and let's just say that there are some things that you can't take back, like an apartment (cough cough). Then there's my emotional spending issue. Whenever, I'm stressed out or in my feelings, I like to buy food and sweets. Anything sweet. Ice cream, cake, anything smothered in chocolate, pie, cookies, etc. Clearly, these unhealthy food choices are not good for me and though it may not seem like it affects me now, it will later on down the line. If I had thought about these choices and the long-term effects that it had on my life, then I probably would not have done them. Newsflash, that's using WISDOM people! For such a long time, I struggled and asked God to give me wisdom. So, about a week ago I just sat down and read a bunch of scriptures about wisdom. The most common thing that I found was that wisdom was carefully thinking about the life choices that you make as well as taking heed of advice from GODLY counsel. Not WORLDLY counsel. Godly counsel would never encourage you to go against your morals or beliefs. Who would of thought? James 1:5 (The Voice version) says this: Wisdom is the ability to live life well and make good decisions. Wisdom begins with knowing and depending absolutely on God, who is never stingy when it comes to wisdom for those who need it. He supplies all the wisdom we need when we ask. But when we try to go get it alone-without God-trouble is around the corner. Furthermore, when I began to read more scriptures, this what I found: Proverbs 13:1 A wise son heeds his father's instruction, but a mocker does not listen to rebuke. James 3:17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven1 is first of all pure; then peace-loving,2 considerate, submissive, full of mercy3 and good fruit, impartial and sincere Proverbs 19:20 Listen to advice and accept instruction,1 and in the end you will be wise.2 Proverbs 4:6-12 Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you;1 love her, and she will watch over you.2 Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all3 you have,a get understanding.4 Esteem her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor you.5 She will set a garland of grace on your head and present you with a crown of splendor.6" Listen, my son,7 accept what I say, and the years of your life will be many.8 I guide9 you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths.10 When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble.11 After reading these scriptures, I began thinking about the decisions more frequently. I realize that since I overspend, I need to ask God WHERE and WHO my money should go to. And of course, use common sense lol and not buy clothes I can't afford. For those of you who struggle with making wise decisions, God is never too far away. He continually shows me parts of myself that needs to be made whole and right. Making the right decisions might not feel comfortable, or good in the moment, but the reward is always worth it in the end. Ask God to help you with making better decisions girl! You know you need it! lol #FixItJesus, Kristal
